The Objective

The Banco Santander Rio Marketing area monitors and evaluates transactions their customers perform through its site On-line Banking, in order to report the most used transactions and other operations carried out, as well as statistical data that point to reveal the development and growth of the application, and behavior of its users.

It was necessary to analyze and understand the information collected by the transactional application, and develop a several reports with summarized and totalized data, shown tendencies and comparisons between periods.

The Solution

The solution implemented required a strong analysis of data collected by the transactional application, in order to develop a data model according the information required. Once the data were analyzed, and data model was ready, all needed processes were developed to collect data from its source, transforming them into grouped and totalized information. Later, WEB reports were developed hosted over their intranet, so marketing and other managerial areas can access just from their PCs. These reports show crucial information such as number of new users, amount of transactions grouped by type, volume of money handled in these transactions. Additionally, the gathered information related On-line Banking was compared with the bank's overall portfolio, shown the penetration this channel reached over the customers. These reports have several filters of various types, such as date or periods, comparisons with previous periods showing the channel evolution, filters by transaction type, customer segments, etc. Each report contains as well graphs charts and optionally can be exported to Excel spreadsheets.

These reports are now a benchmark for the Marketing Area, allowing them to use the information to take actions and define their business strategies.

The Technology

The technology used for this project was Java, JSPs, WebSphere as the Application Server, Oracle, PL-SQL
